How are you going to see all the faces you've missed if masks are required? To my knowledge Utah does not have a mask mandate in place, so why require it? Masks are obedience symbols. We all know they don't work. If Utah or the venue is requiring masks, then move or cancel the conference. Also, the vaxx requirements are discriminatory and just plain ugly. This is segregation. Have we learned nothing from history? By requiring vaxxes for attendance, you're excluding almost half the US participants. It's time to stop playing pandemic. Is this the type of world you want to live in? If not then reject these rules, stop participating. That's where you're going with this. *side eye* * We have had 800,000 deaths from Covid in the US. That's still going on. Especially the families. https://www.reddit.com/r/QAnonCasualties/comments/rakxun/my_career_of_treating_patients_has_ended/ (Note: some very visceral descriptions from this doctor.) * Even morticians have been getting PTSD. https://news.yahoo.com/texas-embalmer-shares-nightmare-covid-130817817.html * Covid is the first endothelial pandemic we've had (so far as we know). (I can't find my papers on that at the moment, and I don't feel like digging for it.) * The endothelium also controls things like hemostasis, whether you've got enough blood everywhere or not. Coagulation, or letting the mast cells know to release some of that sweet heparin for anti-coagulation, etc. Then you've got fibrin that's resistant to fibrinolysis and thus leads to the microclots that are known in many aspects of covid (e.g., "covid toes"), etc. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8380922/ And so on. Nothing like having a lifelong (possibly) endothelial disease, e.g., atherosclerosis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endothelial_dysfunction So, dude, you do you, but I'd be happy to be at a conference of the vaccinated. This course will be held live, online, using Zoom meetings. The focus of the course is on gaining a solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP). The approach is to use simple computer games, which we will build using the "pygame" package. I will explain how graphical user interface (GUI) elements such as buttons, text input/output boxes, radio buttons, etc. are built using OOP, and how they work in an "event-driven" program. We'll go into detail about the three main tenets of OOP: encapsulation, polymorphism, and inheritance. While my approach is to use games, the techniques being taught are applicable to a wide range of software fields. This is an intermediate-level course that is designed for people who have a basic understanding of the Python language, and want to go on to the next level of programming. It assumes that you have taken an introductory course at UCSC-Extension or elsewhere (or have learned Python on your own), and can write small to medium sized programs in Python. The course is very hands-on, with lots of sample programs. Starts Thursday Jan 6, 2022 and will meet on eight Thursday nights (through Feb 24) from 6:30 to 9:30. Sign ups are open to the general public and there is still time to register. The course fee is $750. UCSC-Extension Silicon Valley is accredited by various bodies through the University of California, Santa Cruz, and many employers will reimburse the cost of the course. More details and sign ups are available at: https://www.ucsc-extension.edu/courses/python-object-oriented-programming/ If you have any questions, free to contact me directly at I Kalb at ucsc.edu Feel free to forward this listing on to anyone that you think might be interested. Irv Kalb PS: UCSC-Extension now offers a "Specialization in Python" Award which consists of three courses: Python Programming for Beginners Python: Object-Oriented Programming (this course) Python for Programmers Details can be found here: https://www.ucsc-extension.edu/awards/specialization-in-python/ -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Our new videos are getting rave reviews. In this class students learn and practice core concepts, important libraries, and Pythonic thinking. Our new videos, with moving diagrams for the difficult concepts, are getting rave reviews! For this course, it is best to have some programming experience in any language. However, online we have a lot of time to work through the material. I have a reputation for answering all questions quickly and patiently because I really like to help. Students will have access to videos, other online materials, and the instructor until Apr 15, 2022. https://course.ucsc-extension.edu/modules/shop/index.html?action=section&OfferingID=5591127&SectionID=7450907 ---- And, we have a "Python For Data Analysis" coming up Jan 6 - Mar 10: 10 Thursdays 6:30 - 9:30 PM PDT. In this zoom class students learn and practice the Python needed to work with Pandas and related libraries to find the truth using data analysis. https://course.ucsc-extension.edu/modules/shop/index.html?action=section&OfferingID=6240437&SectionID=7448665 With the miracle tools: Python, pandas, numpy, matplotlib, and Jupyter notebooks, we go from zero to analyzing data in this short class. It is helpful, but not required to know a programming language, and a little about statistics. --- All courses are hands-on with short lectures, and lots of relevant exercises, and, we study the solutions after some lab time. Questions are always welcome. Please come, and send students!
