I agree 2TB is nothing. I hear people telling me to break it up into smaller repos and I’m wondering why. If there is a problem with late repos…then frankly I don’t think it should be trusted with small repos.
I’m impressed by Atiic….and now borg. It does certain things wonderfully. However, this lock file orphaning is a real design flaw that impacts backup automation. The fact that people are warning against “large” repos is a problem. The fact that I hear rumors about repo corruption being enough of a possibility to have the “check” command….is a problem… I’m still going to run with it for a while and see how ti goes. Its not the only form of backup I am using. But I am impressed by it in some ways and I’d like to see where it goes. it may no be ready for prime time yet as far as I can see.
