In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: (Apologies if you get this via multiple lists; likewise, if there's a relevant list that you know of that hasn't yet received this announcement, please feel free to forward it) PyCon Australia 2012 is pleased to announce that its Call for Proposals is now open! The conference this year will be held on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 August 2012 in Hobart, Tasmania. The deadline for proposal submission is Friday May 4, 2012, and more information can be found at http://pycon-au.org/cfp PyCon Australia attracts professional developers from all walks of life, including industry, government, and science, as well as enthusiast and student developers. We?re looking for proposals for presentations and tutorials on any aspect of Python programming, at all skill levels from novice to advanced. Presentation subjects may range from reports on open source, academic or commercial projects; or even tutorials and case studies. If a presentation is interesting and useful to the Python community, it will be considered for inclusion in the program. We're especially interested in short presentations that will teach conference-goers something new and useful. Can you show attendees how to use a module? Explore a Python language feature? Package an application? We welcome first-time speakers; we are a community conference and we are eager to hear about your experience. If you have friends or colleagues who have something valuable to contribute, twist their arms to tell us about it! Please also forward this Call for Proposals to anyone that you feel may be interested. This is definitely something that I'll personally be looking in to and keeping the group up to date with. Thanks to everyone for a great meeting! I'm of half a mind to write down some of the ideas people had for talks :) It's pretty exciting. ~ Games ~ Data handling ~ Demoing a web apps from scratch to deployment on EC2 Great time! ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Robert Edwards Date: Wed, Mar 7, 2012 at 10:59 AM Subject: LCA2013 & Python User Group To: Elena Williams Cc: Michael Still Hi Elena, As you may or may not be aware, the Linux Conference of Australia (linux.conf.au or LCA) is to be held at ANU in January 2013 (next year). LCA uses a web-based registration and overall organisation system called zookeepr, which is written in Python. Each year the organising committee (which changes each year as the conference location changes) makes some changes to zookeepr to better reflect the way they want to organise the conference. Anyway, the LCA2013 conference organisers are organising a hackfest on zookeepr sometime in April. Are you/the Python user group at all interested in helping out with the hacking of zookeepr? I'll let Mikal (Michael) communicate more directly with you about what it is they are hoping to achieve with the hacking of zookeepr, if you are interested in getting involved. Cheers, Bob Edwards. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
