Message-ID: <3741934.GkQnhgo5eQ@linfinit> Hi all, Some of my colleagues at the ANU and I are interested in re-starting the Canberra PUG. I am open to suggestions as to how to do this. I have copied in the CLUG list because the Canberra PUG last met in N101, where CLUG meets, and someone on the CLUG list may be able to help with practical matters, like how to book a room. Apologies if you have received this email message twice. Paul Leopardi, Padarn Wilson, and Jay Larson have stepped forward to lead the Canberra Python Users' Group going forward. As you may know, Elena moved to the States last year, and I am based in Melbourne, so for several months we have had no regular host for the group's meetings. Paul, Padarn and Jay are based at ANU and have organised to continue hosting meetings there (in the same room as last year). Well done and thanks to them for taking this initiative! An email from Padarn announcing the next meeting (on April 4th) is below. -------------- Hi All, I'm emailing you all directly as you have either expressed interest in a Python Users Group, or have been suggested to me as someone who might be interested. This email is to let you all know that the first Canberra Python Users Group meeting for 2013 has been scheduled for April 4th, 7pm-9pm. It will be held in Room N101 or the Computer Science and Information Technology Building at ANU. See a map here: https://maps.google.com.au/maps?ie=UTF8&cid=2626780438576429652&q=CSIT+Building&iwloc=A&gl=AU&hl=en For the first meeting the general topic will be "Why Python? What are you using it for?". The discussion will be reasonably informal, but we would like to get a list of people interested in giving a short talk (10-15 minutes perhaps) about what they're doing with Python, and what they would like to get out of the group. The intention is for the group to focus this year mainly on Python in Scientific Computing and Analytics, but especially in the first meeting, we will be open to any Python related topics. Please send me a message, if you would like to put your name down to talk. There will be some food organized, and ask that anything wanting to eat with us contribute $5 towards this. The meeting will be advertised in various places, but I'd ask that you extend the invitation onto anyone else you think might be interested in attending. We intend on deciding on a way of communicating about subsequent meetings, but for now a google group has been set up where information should be available: https://groups.google.com/d/forum/canberra-python-users-group Feel free to contact me (padarn at gmail.com), Paul Leopardi (paul.leopardi at anu.edu.au) or Jay Larson (jay.larson at anu.edu.au) with any questions. Thanks, hope to see you there. Padarn -- Dr. Edward Schofield Python Charmers +61 (0)405 676 229 http://pythoncharmers.com -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
