Message-ID: Hi all, Just a shout out for potential speakers at CPUG! We haven't had many people volunteer to speak at CPUG this year, we need YOU to help keep this meetup active! The next four meetups are scheduled for 6pm on the following dates: Thursday 4 May Thursday 7 June Thursday 6 July Thursday 10 August It would be great to get some speakers penciled in, it's a great opportunity to share (and learn) from the Python community - with Pycon just around the corner (August 3-8), it's also a great opportunity to practice your talk or formulate a presentation submission. Speakers get a $50 universal gift card courtesy of Redhat - and beer, pizza and venue are generously provided by Peoplebank. Talks can be approximately 25 or 50 minutes (so if you feel you can't fill a big slot, request a smaller one). It's a relaxed, supportive environment and offers a great environment to exercise your technical presentation skills! Please send me an email if you would like to present to the group. Introduction to GraphQL in Python Message-ID: Hi guys, The CPUG monthly meeting will be held this Thursday! As always, please reach out if you are keen to present at a future meeting! Topic: Introduction to GraphQL in Python ===== Speaker: Team Reposit, led by Mike Leonard ===== Abstract: In a world where services are micro in size and many in number, retrieving related data can be complex and slow. One solution to this is using GraphQL. Most introductions to GraphQL explain how it can be used as your public API, however, GraphQL can also provide a query language and schema for your entire application allowing multiple services to be queried seamlessly as one. By combining services together in this way data can be retrieved easier than ever before and with many opportunities for enhanced performance. This talk will give a brief introduction to GraphQL in Python and then explain how it can be used as middleware between applications offering tips, tricks and insights into how to obtain performance improvements over traditional RESTful APIs. ===== Please RSVP via meetup: https://www.meetup.com/Canberra-Python-Meetup-Group/events/239378387/ Location, beer and pizza generously provided by Peoplebank. Speaker gift certificate generously provided by Redhat.
