Isn't that more of a distutils problem? I'm pretty sure that a patch
that adds a bdist_bsd (or some such, would bdist_port be more
appropriate?) command to distutils (in addition to bdist_rpm and
bdist_wininst) would be accepted, as would probably be a patch to the
'install' command that allows registration with the package database.
