The Clintonville Panera location has worked well for us, but someone reserved the meeting room for Friday nights for the rest of the year, so we will be changing something. One way is to take a random image and tweak it with some constraints along a path that results in the ANN considering it closer to what it has been trained to recognize. Another way is to take an image and ask different layers of the ANN to enhance the features it is recognizing. Basically asking the ANN, "Whatever you see here, give me more of it". So you end up with some pretty awesome art. There is a link to a gallery on the blog post. Google has open-sourced the code, and provided an IPython notebook showing how they do it here. It's a very well documented notebook: https://github.com/google/deepdream/blob/master/dream.ipynb There are already apps using this code, just search for "Google Deep Dream". This meeting was originally scheduled for July, but due to a last minute snafu, we had to push this to August. The informal meeting will begin at 6:00pm, with the formal presentation starting promptly at 6:30pm. We will adjourn no later than 8:30pm to Brazenhead for the after-meeting. Since we had to reschedule Rob for this month, this may look like a repeat of last month but isn't :-). This month, Rob Kinyon will be presenting on configuration management with Python and Salt: Chef and Puppet own the mindshare for configuration management tools. But, they suck, for a variety of reasons. Salt doesn't suck. Again, for a variety of reasons, some of which are related to the Python view on life. And it's extendable in Python. Why do I want to use Salt at all? How do I even think about Salt? How do I use Salt? How do I fit Salt into my project? How do I extend Salt? Devops is a very complex process. At the heart is an idempotent state management system. Like Chef, Puppet, or . . . Salt. But, it's really easy to use these tools in a way that doesn't leverage their strengths. That's dumb - let's fix that. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Some of the images have started to have been released, but this process will take a long time (due to the faint signal it can only transmit at less than 1200 baud, or 1,000 bits per second). Someone took some Python code and aligned background stars between images to create this background-stabilized flyby of Pluto from the images that have been released: http://gfycat.com/RealisticGregariousHeterodontosaurus#?speed=0.5 The thing that immediately is noticeable is that the barycenter (the center of mass) of Pluto and Charon is outside of Pluto's diameter. I wonder if that is because I am accustomed to 'structured reading' (as one might do with a 'man page') for Technical, and one cannot easily 'hop around the page' to pick out the nuggets there? As the discount code did not work for dead tree format, I picked up a copy of the latter off AMZN for $37 and change, rather than ORA's $45 list. In fact, O'Reilly has been very generous to both the Central Ohio Python User's Group and to PyOhio over the years. And as an O'Reilly purchaser since I can remember, I've received substantial value from their books in my professional career. So I don't hesitate to recommend them to others. > I find it hard to read 'straight through' a chapter of an > technical 'ebook' compared to a dead tree varaint -- compare > contra: Novels, Fiction and Histories, no problem, but not > Technical for some reason. We will be meeting (almost) every Friday in the Community Room for the rest of the year. Two Fridays ago, there was only one person from the entity that reserved the room for Fridays for the rest of the year. Last Friday and tonight, there was no one from the entity that reserved the room for Fridays for the rest of the year. So Panera called the entity to ask if they expected to keep coming. The entity said that it had found another place to meet. It had not called Panera to cancel. So the Community Room became available for Fridays for the rest of the year and we took it. We will will not be meeting on Mondays or Tuesdays. wp: prefix means Wikipedia To get good answers, consider following the advice in the links below. http://catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html http://web.archive.org/web/20090627155454/www.greenend.org.uk/rjk/2000/06/14/quoting.html wp:G?del, Escher, Bach wp:G?del's incompleteness theorems wp:Uncertainty principle wp:Second law of thermodynamics wp:OODA loop wwww.everycaller.com/phone-number/1-234-567-8901 mrnumber.com/1-234-567-8901 s/TechColumbus/Rev1 Ventures/ https://duckduckgo.com/html/?q=rev1+ventures+techcolumbus Trattoria Roma wp:Romanization Mazah Eatery 1453 Grandview Ave http://www.mazah-eatery.com/ Mezze 5326 N Hamilton Ave http://mezze.us/ wp:Cannon wp:1812 Overture wp:Canon (music) Fr?re Jacques, fr?re Jacques, Dormez-vous ?
