Hi everyone,

Everybody who attended the monthly meeting tonight got to hear a great
presentation about Django -the web framework with not only the batteries
included, but also the kitchen sink!

The beginning Django talk was presented by Shelby Elzinga and John
Cassidy. They covered why use Django and how to get started. The
repository containing both the slide deck and the example Django code is
available here <https://github.com/jocassid/contacts>.

John also mentioned GitKraken <https://www.gitkraken.com>, a useful tool
to manage git with minimal fuss and muss. GitKraken is available to
download for free. After a 7 day trial, it reverts to the “free”
features which allow you to work with public and local repositories.
Please peruse the web site for specific features and subscription
pricing for more advanced levels.

This month we had 10 people who showed up at Improving
<https://improving.com/> (thanks Improving for hosting us) and 10 people
show attended virtually. We will continue to improve our processes so
everyone can participate.

Next month we will have a presentation about a command line task manager
written in Python. See how to develop a standalone project from scratch
and some of the coding practices and techniques involved.

The next monthly meeting will be a week earlier on *May 23*.

If you are so inclined, join us for the weekly DoJo at Smokehouse
Brewing Thursday nights from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Details are at the COhPy
<http://www.cohpy.org> web site.

Travis
