Hi Everyone,
Here is the COhPy meeting schedule for the next few months:
*
Jun 26 - John Lairson - Azure Data Studio & f-strings
o
Abstract:
Azure Data Studio is a sleek tool that allows the unique
functionality of Jupyter notebooks to be utilized with SQL
Server, Python, Spark (R, Scala), PySpark, and Powershell. This
open source tool makes it possible to explore and document
problems in iterative code cells that allow for discovery and
discussion.
I will showcase a notebook that I wrote that goes over string
interpolation within python using f-strings.
*
Jul 31 - Dave Klein - Harness the Power of Data in Motion with Python
o
Abstract:
Some say that data is the new oil, and like oil, data needs to
be collected, refined, and distributed to gain value from it.
For years we’ve collected data into tankers called databases,
and when we had enough, we shipped batches of it to be refined
by some process. Then when that was done, we’d make it available
to end-users. However, unlike oil, data tends to lose its value
the longer we wait to use it. (Data is the new milk?)
So, what if we could hook up a pipeline to the source of the
oil, er… data, and transform it in real-time, on its way to the
end-users or down-stream processes? That’s precisely what we can
do with Apache Kafka and Quix Streams. In this session, we’ll
introduce Kafka and then see how we can use it, along with the
Quix Streams Python library to enrich, aggregate, summarize, and
otherwise transform our data while it is flowing through our
systems.
*
Aug 28 - Chris Pazsint - LED panels - Hardware and Programming
(details later)

Do you like the monthly meetings? Want to be more involved with COhPy?
Since I will be leaving the area in August, someone needs to volunteer
to line up speakers for each month. Other members have already
volunteered for publicity, logistics, web site maintenance, etc. -- for
which I am very grateful. This important task is the only one
remaining. If you wish to take this on, please let me know at
cohpy at punmyword.com by the end of June.
Thanks,
Travis
