Well I'm a college student as well, but I'm investing myself in python.
Not just because of it's simplicity, but it's friendly and you know about
the community.
I'd advice anyone to follow the trend to go and invest themselves in either
JavaScript or Python.
I don't have the article but, Harvard replaced it's introductory course to
programming which was in Java to JavaScript, and this change is appreciated
among the developers community.
Java is still used for maintenance of old code nowadays, but at the rate JS
and Python are heading... The future holds to the people who conquer it.
