If anyone wants a change of scenery, there is the all-time best German
bar in Chicago, Resi's Bierstube:

It meets the requirement of being "close to the Metra" -- 3 or 4 block
walk from Ravenswood stop.  However, I don't think they have wireless.
 They do have 16+ Bavarian beers on tap (!), schnitzel, kraut, and if
we get the warm-up by Wed there is a beer garden in back.
