[Chicago] python contract REMOTE as in Develop from home

Python Data Warehousing  SQL Developer
 
Location is in Chicago or can work remote
  
Duration is 9 mos.
  
Pay rate is hourly commensurate with experience
  
We are looking for an individual who is familiar with Data Validation. Has the ability to peruse a Data Set check for design flaws, look for inconsistencies and gaps in data, clean data, organize data, mediate the data and ultimately normalize the data.
 
 This is a 9 month project running through June 30, 2013 with possible extensions. The client is located in Chicago and there is the option for this work to be done remotely. However the client prefers a local resource. 
 
 
Requirements:
 
1. Experience with python and basic shell scripting (bash).
 
2. Knowledge of SQL and hands-on experience with mysql (command-line, workbench).
 
3. Some knowledge of data warehousing: dimensional modeling, star schema, ETL process.
 
4. Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
 
5. Experience with hadoop and large amount of data is a plus.
 
 
Responsibilities: Develop, maintain, and run ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) scripts for large amounts of pricing, purchasing, and media data stored in text and xls files.  Perform some analysis of the loaded data in mysql.
