I am actually at a point where you folks have likely gotten me to a point
of sources of information that will eventually take the failings I
currently have, at least those related to Python, and turn them into
strengths. For this I thank you.
I took a short break from Interactive Python being offered on Coursera
through the Rice group to work through Dr-Chuck's MOOC. I am happy with my
basic knowledge of Python now and it will soon be time to add a knowledge
of math, science, graphic and display libraries as well as some better
idioms for inits and reinits. PONG is ugly as far as code goes but in a
good form for two people to play who do not mind starting, stopping and
restarting it without the button.

If this messy post and code brings to anyones mind very
succinct references to libraries, algorithms and idioms please let me know.
Now, to asteroids and beyond.
