Doesn't look 'really messy' to me :)

I can thinking of a couple alternate modules that would help keep it clean:

1) Might want to:

from math import radians


2) also, I would consider using everyone's favorite module requests:
http://docs.python-requests.org/en/latest/

$ pip install requests
