Widening the Space -
Spirals & Spherical Space
Contact
Improvisation Workshops with Elske Seidel
Berlin | 5 Nov 2016

Both
workshops will be about recognizing spirals in our movement,
how they support us, how they can widen the space in our
dancing - freeing us into three-dimensionality and open
possibility. Spirals as a core prinicipal and phenomena of nature,
are essential for our bodies in organization and movement.

As we
observe nature we see the abundance of round shapes and the various
manifestations of spirals. As we see water moving with gravity we
learn.

In these
workshops we will support each other through hands-on work to
connect to the water inside, finding our liquid quality, learning
from feeling. We will sense our bones floating inside our bodies,
soften our joints, allowing them to sink. Through imagination and
perception we will learn about responsiveness and connectivity within
our body. We will listen to the weight of the water moving us,
shifting through us.

As we
dance I am interested in opening and exploring spherical space. Based
on a center-to-center connection with our partner we can enjoy
sharing continuous falling, allowing us to read direction as an
invitation to spiral into flight.

For
people with a solid base in Contact Improvisation.
