As various people have said, I think that most people agree with that. 
I've heard one comment saying that "having to be under the O'Reilly
umbrella" is a sign of weakness or some such (can't remember the
details, was probably somewhat tipsy).  

In my mind, the main question is whether there's also a low-cost
conference, like the Perl guys do it, and who runs it and when and how.
