Message-ID: Hello all, Audrey Roy and I will be in the Philippines from around June 20 until July 2. After talking with members of the Python user group there, we decided to help run the first PyCon Philippines, The dates are set at June 30 to July 1. Right now venue and speakers are being lined up, as well as many other logistic necessities. Time is very short and we (the growing cadre of volunteers) are all going as fast as we can to make this a success. We are working out the sponsor package now. The base package will be for 10,000 Pesos, about USD $230, making it very reasonable. Everyone involved is a volunteer, and excess funds will either go to future Philippine Python events or be donated to the PSF. What we also need is advice and guidance, not to mention blogging and marketing assistance. Six sources, i.e., transportation, power, buildings, industry, agriculture and forestry, and land use, have been identified as major contributors to the rise of global carbon dioxide (CO2). The mobile industry is seen as a potential enabler to reduce greenhouse gases contributed by these six sources provided that appropriate measures are implemented. On the other hand, the mobile industry itself will also contribute to CO2 emission through network operations, mobile equipments, etc. To meet the requirement of low-carbon economy development, it is necessary to reduce the operation expenditure or energy consumption of mobile networks, while maintaining acceptable quality of service. This conference will explore and explain the scope and challenges of designing, building, and deploying GreeNets. In this regard, the conference aims to establish a forum to bring together research professionals from diverse fields including green mobile networks, system architectures, networking & communication protocols, applications, test-bed and prototype, traffic balance and energy-efficient cooperation transmission, system and application issues related to GreeNets. [Topics] The conference invites original technical papers that were not previously published and are not currently under review for publication elsewhere. Topics include, but are not limited to: - Communications and Networking: Communication techniques and protocols for GreeNets Energy-efficient transmission technologies based on the cooperation communication Scalable and flexible energy efficiency mobile network architectures, deployments, and applications - Energy-efficient network architecture & protocols: Scalability and mobility issues in energy efficiency cross-layer design MAC Protocols and QoS Designing for mobile networks - Systems and Technology: Transactions and workflows in green mobile networks Adaptability and stability of green mobile networks Mobile and multimedia supported green mobile networks Experimental and test bed studies for energy efficiency mobile networks, simulation tools - Energy-efficient management: Energy-efficient traffic balance, cooperation and management Distributed energy efficiency resource management techniques Protocols for cooperative management and control [Publications] Accepted papers will be published in Springer's LNICST series and will appear in the SpringerLink, one of the largest digital libraries online that covers a variety of scientific disciplines, as well as in the ICST's own EU Digital Library (EUDL). LNICST volumes are submitted for inclusion to leading indexing services, including DBLP, Google Scholar, ACM Digital Library, ISI Proceedings, EI Engineering Index, CrossRef, Scopus. In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: (Hobart Tasmania, 15 June 2012) With both of our keynotes announced, PyCon Australia is very proud to be able to reveal the programme for the 2012 conference, to be held on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 August 2012 in Hobart, Tasmania. Following an impressive response to our Call for Proposals the conference will feature three full tracks of presentations and tutorials, across two days, covering all aspects of the Python ecosystem, presented by experts and core developers of key Python technology. Our keynote presenters, Mark Ramm, Engineering Manager on Juju at Canonical [1], and Kenneth Reitz, Python lead at Heroku [2] will be joined by a wide array of presenters covering a broad range of backgrounds, including industry, research, government and academia. As ever, PyCon Australia is a great place to keep up-to-date with the latest trends in Python web technology: From Heroku, Lincoln Stoll will be presenting on the 12 Factor Method for building software-as-a-service apps [3]. Other web related topics include deployment and testing techniques for Django applications and techniques for asynchronous web programming. There's also a wide range of talks for the rapidly growing community of developers using Python in science. Edward Schofield's survey of the latest developments in Python for Science and Engineering [4] will get you up to scratch on what tools and techniques are shaping the Python world for scientists. From there, case studies and introductory talks will delve into all aspects of Python in science: including techniques for handling large scientific data sets, natural language processing, and data visualisation -- attendees working with Python in all fields of science will gain something from PyCon Australia 2012. Finally, for newcomers to Python looking to quickly enhance their Python skillset, Graeme Cross' tutorials [5] in our Classroom stream will help you to rapidly enhance your knowledge of Python -- you can then attend our general stream talks to glean a snapshot of the state of the art in Python. PyCon Australia 2012 programme committee chair, Richard Jones, was impressed with the level of response to the Call for Proposals, which closed in early May: "We had an unprecedented response to our Call for Proposals this year, and this has helped us to put together one of the strongest programmes ever at PyCon Australia. There's something for every developer working with Python in this year's programme -- be they working in web technology, in research, or even if they're just a Python enthusiast who wants to learn more about their favourite language." The full schedule for PyCon Australia 2012 can be found at http://2012.pycon-au.org/programme/schedule Registrations for PyCon Australia 2012 are now open, with prices starting at AU$44 for students, and tickets for the general public starting at AU$198. All prices include GST, and more information can be found at http://2012.pycon-au.org/register/prices We're looking forward to seeing this excellent programme brought to life at PyCon Australia 2012, in Hobart, in August. Our team already planning to organize big russian python conference which will be held in February, 2013 (500 participants). We started to select headliners and creating conference program two weeks ago. We have some experience in python conference organization. One of our team organized RuPyRu conference in 2007-2009 in Omsk (60-90 participants per year). http://www.rupy.ru/archive/ We started thinking about russian conference after returning from PyCon Ukraine 2011 and decided to start with regional conference which was held in February, 2012 (130 participants). http://www.ekbpy.ru/ http://www.ekbpy.ru/materialy/ I think that Eugeny could try to organize regional event and participate in our commitee.
