The conference web site is http://tw.pycon.org/2014apac/en/ ( http://apac.pycon.org/ is redirected to here). The call for proposals has been opened and we'll keep soliciting proposals through March 1. The theme of PyCon APAC this year is "from everything import __future__". Good topics for the conference include but are not limited to: - Web Programming (e.g Django, Pyramid, Web2Py, TurboGears) - Cloud Computing - Startups, Business, and Education - Multimedia, Animation, and Graphics - Game Programming - GUI Programming - Hardware/Embedded System Design - System Administration and Security - Network Programming - Agile Development and Project Best Practices - Packaging Issues - Programming Tools - Python Libraries and Extensions - Python Implementations: IronPython, Jython, PyPy and Stackless. This year we open a special, dedicated scientific Python track in the conference. In the special track, we hope to gather practitioners who use the language for scientific, engineering, or scholarly works. Submissions of the SciPy track will be peer reviewed, and speakers are expected to submit an extended abstract with 1 to 3 pages of A4 paper. Suitable topics of the SciPy track include but are not limited to: - Scientific Computing, Technical Computing, High-Performance Computing - Scientific/Engineering Education - Computational Sciences - Bioinformatics - Big Data, Data Mining, Machine Learning - Computational Physics, Computational Chemistry, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Computational Mechanics, Computational Electromagnetics Since 2013, PyCon APAC (originated from Singapore) started to move to other cities in the APAC region, and the first stop was Tokyo, Japan. This year it comes to Taipei, Taiwan. The conference will be organized by the local Python community. Thus this year PyCon Taiwan will be part of PyCon APAC. By the rotation we hope to make the community broader and better. Please contact us if you like this, and if you can, come to the conference. We hope to greatly reduce the work load for the local teams, attract community members that want to get involved and to streamline the whole process of transitioning from one location to the next, making the conference organization a lot easier for everyone. If you are interested in potentially signing up as local team or participating in the work groups, please subscribe to one of our communication channels: * Tumblr http://www.tumblr.com/follow/europythonsociety * RSS http://www.europython-society.org/rss * Twitter https://twitter.com/europythons * EuroPython Mailing List https://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/europython We are aiming for end of February as announcement date for the CFP 2015.
