[C++-sig] strange auto-build problem

I take that question back. This clearly isn't new.
bjam and the tools file haven't changed.
The setup of our Windows2k box hasn't changed.
The auto-build setup hasn't changed. 
When I run bjam from the command line in the very same directory where the
auto-build runs bjam there is no problem. So the problem with the batch file
seems to be a debugging-artifact.
I will dig some more...
