[C++-sig] 2 Problems in build

Jam does not seem to find the environment variables I set in the console
where I was trying to build boost. I found (as I recall finding before) that
I have to hand edit the python.jam and msvc-tools.jam files to point to the
actual location(s) of vc and python root directories before jam will do it's
thing.

I guess I did remember enough, since I got the debug version built and the
release version is building as I type. I'm curious to know what the fuss
is/was about mpl, since I don't see anything built with that name... ?
