Does it work without the extern "C"?

Also, you want direct member variable access to use make_setter and 
make_getter rather than def_readwrite(). Search the list archive for 
more.

Also, it would be far more useful to us if you ran python inside gdb 
and gave a backtrace (bt) of where the segfault is happening.
