Have you looked into 4ODS?  It allows you to specify persistent
attributes on an object, then generates persistent base classes for you
to use as python objects.  As these objects are created, modified, etc.
4ODS updates the relational backend for you.  It can be found at
http://4Suite.org/ in the 4Suite distribution.
