Can anyone take a look at the patch just as a sanity check?  I can't
really comment on it, but if someone else gives it a look, Thomas can
go ahead and check it in.

Good point.  It doesn't look like beta1 will be happening until late
next week due to the nested scoping changes, but I'll do that before
the release.
