[Distutils] data_files "odd" behavior under Un*x

	Hi,

	Apparently the surprising behavior of data_files under Unices 
as reported by Pete Shinners in December 2000 (see
http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Mail/Message/distutils-sig/588325 )
seems to be the one of the current cvs version. Will this behavior 
persist or am I doing something wrong ? (I use the workaround suggested
by Pete Shinners, but this seems odd),
