[Distutils] Jython support?

Sorry if this has been covered in the past. I'm new to this sig. I DID 
search the archives, and didn't come up with anything of help.

Is there distutil support for jython? i tried to install it, but of course 
setup.py wouldn't run because distutils module wasnt there :) Chicken n egg.

If indeed there is no support for jython, how do jython developers install 
python modules?
