[Distutils] existing documentation

hi there,

in contrast to other modules, which contain detailed
API references, the distutils documentation seems only
to consist of two papers, one explaining how to prepare
distributions, the other how to use them.

Why is that so ? It took me quite some time even to
learn that I can customize and extend the commands,
i.e. the setup's 'cmdclass' keyword. It was just nowhere
documented (outside the code, of course).

Am I missing something ?
