FYI, I've got a patch in my source checkout now and it appears to work 
great for the simple cases.  I still have a few more complex scenarios to 
test, like bdist_wininst roundtripping with easy_install, and some 
documentation/release notes to update.  I hope to have the fix in 
Subversion in a few hours.
