[Distutils] Newby Question: install easy_install for python2.5 on RHEL

Perhaps I don't know enough to pick the right value for MYDIR. Since my
Fedora box has it at /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/setuptools/ and
the 2.4 version is at
/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/setuptools-0.6c11-py2.4.egg/, I
figured:

	sudo sh setuptools-0.6c11-py2.5.egg --install-dir
/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages

would work, but I get the same error:

error: invalid Python installation: unable to open
/usr/lib64/python2.5/config/Makefile (No such file or directory)

Any thoughts on what MYDIR should be?

Thanks!
Walter

Walter, I believe you want

          sudo sh setuptools-0.6c11-py2.5.egg --install-dir MYDIR

which tells it exactly where to put the setuptools package.
