Subject: [Doc-SIG] Discussion on Translation Platform for Python Docs
Message-ID: <CALYYG81HMtHA0hrD==7dM=PB-OXDaB8U7UQ+TjA649cvSOmQvA@mail.gmail.com>

Hello,

I would like to reach out to the coordinators of Python docs translation
teams that currently use Transifex as their translation platform.

For some time, I have been considering Weblate as an alternative. In
October 2022, Transifex disabled shared translation memory for open-source
projects. [1]

Switching platforms would impact all projects using Transifex, so it would
be helpful to gather input from the coordinators before discussing funding
for hosted Weblate projects with the PSF.

Weblate is Python-based, actively maintained, and follows a libre
distribution model.

Could you please share your thoughts on this? Should we consider some other
translation tools or platforms?

Best regards,
Maciej Olko

Adding Rafael, who's maintaining the Brazilian translation working group.

Best regards,
Marco.
