Teuchters across the road had a fine selection of whiskey too. (This sounds like Drinking Edinburgh not Python Edinburgh right?) > * Remain as a drinking club. I think this is something that should keep going despite what other arrangements we have. It's really easy to setup and we only really need a few people to be interested to make it work. It's also great fun. * Organised Hack Sessions I'm really keen on this. It would be really good fun and there would be great scope for learning. We are all coder after all so what would be a better thing for us to do? I think a good format for this might include some form of lightening talks or short presentations perhaps related to the sprint. To give those that didn't make it a feel for the group I thought it would be good to mention some of the topics that were discussed that didn't directly relate to the future of the group. We had many discussions but these are some of the topics that I was involved in; Working or contracting for local and UK companies, Django, meta classes, version control systems and and many others, even including internet explorer (shudder). Hopefully get to see some more more of you there next month! Dougal -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I certainly did and the turn out was great. We raised the idea of a python hack session (maybe better called a sprint?) where we would get together and work on an open source project. The proposed day is Saturday the 23rd of October and we are still working towards that. We've not got much organised yet but it would be worth noting it in your calendars. We also need to come up with a project idea. A few idea's were suggested on Tuesday but nothing was confirmed. It's probably then a good idea to start suggesting idea's on the list if you have one. The venue isn't confirmed either (we are very organised) - so any suggestions would be helpful otherwise I and Mark will do some calling around. Let us know if you can make it and any ideas that interest you. Cheers, Dougal -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I think I suggested PyPy [1] on Tuesday, although I?m not sure how much use that would be to anyone (I certainly haven?t used PyPy). Another possibility might by a port of Ruby?s chronic library [2]. Easiest thing to do is look through the bug tracker of your favorite project and pick an item. E.g. Gunicorn (http://gunicorn.org) could do with sendfile support [1]. If I turn up, I may work on that. Anyone here have WSGI implementation experience? We could hold it in Appleton Tower perhaps (Techmeetup location). I can try to arrange that if it seems like a good venue. --Hasan 1. http://github.com/benoitc/gunicorn/issues#issue/88 On 30 September 2010 19:35, Dougal Matthews wrote: > Hi All, > This weeks meet-up at the pub went really well and I think we all thoroughly > enjoyed it.
