I'm sorry, it turns out that I was wrong about Ruby. By default Ruby
uses closed-integer division. I presumed incorrectly that it followed
Perl. In Ruby you could probably change this behaviour using overloading
but this is probably ill-advised because it would probably change the
behaviour of libraries.
