Surprise, it's already part of your favorite mainstream CPU.
Pentia allow it. BIOS Roms today contain microcode
blocks that are loaded into the CPU depending on its
exact mask number, to fix processor bugs. So with a little
hacking, you might roll your own symbolics processor
du jour.
