Sorry, I'm late, but I'll add a link here to one of the
many sites doing animated algorithms which I find even
more impressive than creating lists of counters:

I used to know some cool demo comparing various sorting
algorithms simultaneously in the same fashion on the 
former NeXTSTEP system, but I was not able to find that
quickly on the net...
