Thanks John.  Patched both my 2.3 and 2.4 with your versions of PyShell.py.

I see we agree on many things.

PS:  I had this problem with IDLE in Windows not obeying some editing keys
after awhile (seemed sporadic); turned out to be caps lock was messing with
CTRL-x combos, which it shouldn't.  The problem was fixed awhile ago.  I
went through Sourceforge.
