If you use the MacPython installer it should include the MacPython IDE out of the box.

I have IDLE running on my Macs. I first installed Tcl/TkAqua, then rebuilt Python from source using the MacOSX instructions to do a framework build.

You might have better luck with this question on the MacPython mailing list.
