Cool! i came to the mailing list because i wanted to see what the state of audio coverage would
be.

While video coverage is a admirable task, it takes a shitload more work and has much less easily
obtainable tools than for audio.

At codecon (http://codecon.info) they did a very successfull recording. So i spoke with the guy
that did it, and these are the steps he took (this is for a linux setup).

1. plug house system into computer.
2. cat /dev/dsp > file for later processing. About 10 Gig = 20 hours raw.
3a) Use audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ to separate out the bad channel from the RAW
file since the input was mono.

3b) Use audacity to crop out and identify the time segments and save to .wav format (ideally a
group of people can cut down the labor).

4. Use the xiph speex encoding http://www.speex.org/ to create an encoding such that 5hours = 50mb
compared to 100mb with mp3/ogg.

You can see the end results from the codecon here: http://cubicmetercrystal.com/codecon-03-audio/

So I hope this is enough to get somebody completed ready. Obviously... i cant be there, so i hope
for excellent recordings ;-).
