Hello,

all who were fascinated by the "children first" talk of Alan Key might find
this article interesting to:

So please try to imagine the possibilities given by OLPC with Python
preinstalled

hello all,

it would be nice if we could start preparations for 2007 by now.

I have had/still have my hands full with work, but I got a message from
the IRS so I've started looking at the economy; I will try to get some
numbers out after the weekend.

Nevertheless, the hardest work has always been to manage the content of
the conference, so I suggest we should start thinking about what focus
we want for Vilnius 2007 and look into track chairs, manager of all
tracks chairs, etc.

/dario

yes. Thank you Dario for remembering us and pushing us forward.

Good. I would like to work on that with you. I think it could be very
interesting, for example to ask for further financial support by
companies and adminsitrations, as I mentioned in an earlier mail
(weeks ago) to have the figures of the last, say 2 or 3, editions of
EP.

For example:

* number of speakers,
* number of proposed papers,
* number of paying participants,
* income ventilated by types
* outcome ventilated by types
...

With these figures, we could also build some standard documents to
show to potential supporters.

I volunteer to help with this kind of work (at least to work on it with others)

I volunteer to work, organize and mayby chair the education track if
this can help.

Thanks,

Nicolas

Hi All,

Thanks for the reminder Dario.

>From my side progress so far is the following:

I booked the venue but am still discussing the price and the
refreshments etc.
It would be very helpful to me if ep organizational committee (or what
there is instead of it) have a meeting this week, say Thursday to
discuss technical details such as what kind of refreshments we want, how
many coffee breaks etc.

I can give the approximate costs of the venue and such during that meeting.

+1 I suggest we have a meeting on 24th of October 4pm GMT
Other time/date suggestions are welcome.

That's Tuesday isn't it? You said Thursday above, that's all... more
or less any time is fine for me.

Cheers,

Yes, I was thinking about having two different meetings -- one just for
the core organising team and the other for broader audience who would be
interested in helping with content etc.

If those two meetings can be combined, I'm fine with it, but I need to
go back to the hotel and tell them our decision about food, coffee
breaks, etc. Monday or Tuesday next week.

Well, like I said, I'm around most of the time, so it matters little to me :-)

Cheers,

I cannot participate during that time - I will be travelling. I would
like to take this opportunity to express
an interest in co-chairing an agile track at EP 2007 since it was great
fun doing it and it seemed that people
were fairly interested in the area.
