Could you please give me some guidance on how to register with the voucher.
And how to close the registration with the etab hotel. They want to wipe

established and planned, worldwide. The archive is open to all.

I will announce it on python.org, the PyCon & PSF blogs, and

those involved with conferences worldwide, but I'm sure I missed some,

Hello European Pythonistas,

Now we have some more great publicity materials at
wiki.europython.eu/Publicity/ including banners and wallpaper.

* If you are a delegate, use 'I'm going to EuroPython'
* If you are a speaker, use 'I'm speaking at EuroPython'
* If you can't come this year :-( use 'I wish I was going to EuroPython'

put them on your website, blog or whatever, linked to http://europython.eu !

Intrigue your colleagues : use the EuroPython wallpaper on your Desktop !

Publicise EuroPython, come to EuroPython, enjoy yourself at EuroPython 2009 !

Thank you, Steve Hawkes, for these graphics, Thank you, Zachary Voase,
for the EuroPython logo !

See you there, 28th June to 4th July, Birmingham UK

Best wishes,

John

The materials look good. All the banners 126 pixels wide or less.
Could the designer whip up a classic ad banner proportion?
(width="468" height="60")

Thanks,
Kit

Hello Everyone,

The data centre suffered a catastrophic failure of one floor's UPS at
3.00 am BST this morning. Of course it involved our server :-(

The server is back up now, but there have been hardware disk
corruptions which the RAID is unable to resolve and it will be a while
before the it has has been restored to full health.

Meantime static sites are being served OK, but the wiki is
non-operational as its file system is mounted readonly.

Because of the number of issues at the data centre I don't yet know
how long it will take to fix.

Sorry.

Best wishes,

John

Message-ID: <b1f5d7040905270922y332ae004h730a36f2c617af72@mail.gmail.com>

Hello everyone,

We need some more volunteers to help with EuroPython. Now in
particular we want someone who can collect the talks together.

Speakers often provide materials that are useful for conference delegates:

* An outline or paper/side
* Example code
* Software packages

We need someone to volunteer to be the editor of these materials, i.e.
to collect them altogether into a nice organised directory structure
which can be put onto the conference CD and on the website; as well as
to liaise with speakers to get the materials out of them.

If you can do this for us, please reply to me or to the
Europython-improve at python.org mailing list.

Thankyou for reading.

Best Wishes,
Zeth

Hi :-).

I would like to participate Euro Python 2009 from JAPAN.
I tried entering my name, address etc. to register to it, but I was
not able to proceed paying for it.
My credit card information was correct, but it says "Please input
valid postal code".
I guess maybe it has some kind of validation, avoiding postal code in
Japan.

Would you mind if advice me what I should do in this case ?

Thanks in advance.

To be clear: was this at the registration stage, in the Shopping Cart?
or at the payment stage when you enter Credit Card imformation?

I pretended that I was honourable Japanese person and registered
myself from Japan, and this stage worked using your postcode 154, but
of course I could not try the credit card payment.

> Would you mind if advice me what I should do in this case ?

If your card is not accepted, you could try one of the following methods:

1. If you have a PayPal account, choose PayPal Express - 'Checkout
with PayPal' from the shopping basket.

2. Choose Pay by Phone and afterwards telephone us on +44 121 313 3850
during working hours and pay by card over the phone.

3. Choose Pay by Bank Transfer and make a bank transfer to the account
you will be given.

Looking forward to seeing you at EP!

Best wishes,

John

==================================================================
Birmingham (UK) EuroPython PyPy Sprints 28-29 June/ 3-4 July 2009
==================================================================

The PyPy team is sprinting at EuroPython again. This year there are
`sprint days`_ before (28-29 June) and after (3-4 July) the conference.
Some PyPy core people should be present during both periods.

.. _`sprint days`: http://wiki.europython.eu/Sprints

If you plan to attend the sprints after the conference we recommend you
to listen to the PyPy technical talk (`EuroPython schedule`_) during the
conference since it will give you a good overview of the status of
development.

Goals and topics of the sprint
------------------------------

There are many possible and interesting sprint topics to work on - here
we list some possible task areas:

  - trying out software on PyPy's Python interpreter: the CPython test
suite is not all that complete, therefore the fact that we pass most
tests is no real indication of bug-freeness. We have tried and know
that frameworks like Django and Twisted work with PyPy. Therefore we
would like to try running more "real applications" on top of the
Python interpreter (ideally ones that have a good test suite
themselves and that don't need unusual extension modules). Running
things on Windows is also interesting, we know our coverage there is
not as good as on Linux.

  - check and improve Mac OS X support

  - starting to work on porting 2.6 features to PyPy's Python interpreter

  - ongoing JIT generator work

  - of course we are open to other ideas for what to work on. Examples
could be working on other language interpreters, sandboxing, ...

Registration
------------

If you'd like to come, please subscribe to the `pypy-sprint mailing
list`_ and drop a note about your interests and post any questions.
More organisational information will be sent to that list.

Please register by adding yourself on the following list (via svn):

or on the pypy-sprint mailing list if you do not yet have check-in
rights:

   http://codespeak.net/mailman/listinfo/pypy-sprint

---------------------------------------
Preparation (if you feel it is needed):
---------------------------------------

- read the `getting-started`_ pages on http://codespeak.net/pypy,
especially also the `development of PyPy itself part`_ .

- for inspiration, overview and technical status you are welcome to read
`the technical reports available and other relevant documentation`_

- please direct any technical and/or development oriented questions to
   pypy-dev at codespeak.net and any sprint organizing/logistical
   questions to pypy-sprint at codespeak.net

- if you need information about the conference, potential hotels,

That's really good news!

If you're planning to join the PyPy (or any other) sprint, it's really
important that you sign up to it at the above wiki page, otherwise the
organisers will not know what facilities to allocate!

It is NOT enough to just sign up on the codespeak list.

Thanks!

John

Yes, that would be good, although we don't expect our keynote speakers
to necessarily talk about Python, and I think Tony Hoare will be
speaking more about the philosophy of programming than the details.

Where are the volunteers for the EuroPython Video Tech Team ?

Best wishes,

John
