Hi,

   * http://wiki.europython.eu/VolunteersByActivity#Talk_video_recording

To cut a long story short, there are plans to record videos of the
conference, and in order for this to work, we need volunteers for
morning and afternoon sessions. What you'll need to do is:

In a morning session:
    * Borrow the cameras we'll provide you.
    * Go to 3 talks which are all in one room, and not the Adrian
Boult room, and record them. (ie sit near the front, point camera
right way & hit record)
    * At lunch time return the cameras *straight away*. (This is to
allow them to be recharged - they can't run off mains)

In afternoon session:
   * Pick up the camera after lunch.
    * Go to 3 talks which are all in one room, and not the Adrian
Boult room, and record them. (ie sit near the front, point camera
right way & hit record)
    * In the afternoon break return the cameras *straight away*. (This
is to allow them to be emptied)

The little oddity is that you'll be provided with 3 cameras (and a
tripod) and asked to use them to record 1 talk per camera. The oddity
is caused by the fact that the batteries last slightly more than a
talk's slot, and that the batteries in the camera can't be charged at
the same time as the camera is in use, and the cameras the europython
team have can't be mains powered.

If you're willing to help out, please bear in mind you'll be expected
to record 3 talks, and it would *really* help if you could sign up for
a whole day. (ie record 3 talks before lunch and 3 talks after lunch)

I currently have 1 volunteer to cover 1 day (though not specified
which yet), please add yourself: (and/or mail me)

(Richard: I've put you down for monday - I hope that's OK)

In case you're wondering why my name isn't on that grid, the reason is
because I'll have another camera with me which *can* be mains powered,
and I'll be recording every session I attend - which should be 4 in
the morning and 5 in the afternoon - so probably 31 talks in all
(including keynotes), in addition to the 21 to be recorded by other
volunteers. Additionally, I'll be recording all the lightning talks.

I'll be arriving on Saturday afternoon/evening, and at the
Conservatoire on sunday, with the intent of talking through what's
happening with vounteers, and if anyone is interested in having their
tutorial recorded on sunday, please let me know - it'd be useful to
have a test run.

Finally, if you're thinking "I've never used a video camera I can't do
this" - I'd never used a video camera before Europython last year, and
including all the lightling talks, I ended up recording pretty much
every single session I attended, and the videos are here:
http://europython09.blip.tv/ . You can make a difference.

(Incidentally, if anyone else is attending with their own video camera
etc, please do come forward, any extra videos beyond the planned would
be useful to include)

Regards,

Michael.
