The shifting of the opening day to 20th June allows to hold the 5 Talk Sessions and the 2 Hands-On Training Sessions in the same days, June 20th-24th, while keeping the following weekend (June 25th and 26th) allocated for the sprints. Notice also that the partner program will start on June 18th, Saturday, the weekend *before* the conference, to let our delegates join their familiies in the tours without conflicts with the schedules. Thanks to this change, this year delegates will be able not only to attend one of the 5 talks in 5 different tracks, but also join one of the very detailed 4-hours hands-on trainings, to gain a much better understanding on topics. Hands-on trainings will focus on actual source code examples (bringing your laptop is strongly suggested!) and are a better fit for people that prefer to get their hands dirty deep into the code! The new EuroPython Agenda will be as below: - *June 20th*: Opening day of the conference. In the morning the keynote session will be held, with special guests soon to be announced. - *June 20th to 24th*: Regular conference, with up to 5 parallel tracks from morning to evening, and 2 parallel tracks for hands-on trainings. - *June 25/26th*: Coding Sprint. Two full days of quick hacking on Python core and libraries, with the guide of experienced developers. more info available at: http://ep2011.europython.eu/blog/2011/02/16/europython-slight-date-change -- Fabio Pliger -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Otherwise, the list is just for your convenience and contains the price that you can get if you call the hotel directly by phone. They are listed there so that you can save doing a few international phone calls. After the early bird opens, we will be refreshing those rates weekly. You can compare them with those you get in the same hotels through booking portals (eg: booking.com). > Is breakfast included in those prices ? We don't know at this point. We will make sure to include this information after the early bird opens. As for the wifi, please consider that we will have a special deal for prepaid SIMs, with tethering included (http://ep2011.europython.eu/mobile/). The other ones are just indications of the prices we found calling the hotel or consulting on their website. For those you can just contact them and check if rates have changed or not. We included them into that page for attendees convenience. This list should vary and grow in the next days / weeks but i'd recomment you to start looking or booking as soon as you can. Florence is a very very tourist city and hotels can be full if you book near the conference days. > > > Is breakfast included in those prices ? > It's not clear at the moment. I'd say that i'm pretty sure that for the apartments breakfast is not included. B&B Firenze centro should have breakfast buffet. We'll try to check with the other affiliates and include this information at the website as soon as we can. > > Thanks, > -- > Marc-Andre Lemburg > eGenix.com > > Professional Python Services directly from the Source (#1, Feb 17 2011) > >>> Python/Zope Consulting and Support ... http://www.egenix.com/ > >>> mxODBC.Zope.Database.Adapter ... http://zope.egenix.com/ > >>> mxODBC, mxDateTime, mxTextTools ... http://python.egenix.com/ > ________________________________________________________________________ > > ::: Try our new mxODBC.Connect Python Database Interface for free ! :::: > > > eGenix.com Software, Skills and Services GmbH Pastor-Loeh-Str.48 > D-40764 Langenfeld, Germany. Would I have to reserve one of those in advance or will there be enough on arrival for everyone ? I tried finding out how to get an Italian SIM card in Germany, but it appears to be a bit difficult from abroad due to the local regulations in Italy. Even buying one in Italy, I would have to get a local tax number (for whatever reason). -- Marc-Andre Lemburg eGenix.com Professional Python Services directly from the Source (#1, Feb 17 2011) >>> Python/Zope Consulting and Support ... http://www.egenix.com/ >>> mxODBC.Zope.Database.Adapter ... http://zope.egenix.com/ >>> mxODBC, mxDateTime, mxTextTools ... http://python.egenix.com/ ________________________________________________________________________ ::: Try our new mxODBC.Connect Python Database Interface for free ! :::: eGenix.com Software, Skills and Services GmbH Pastor-Loeh-Str.48 D-40764 Langenfeld, Germany. Would I have to reserve one of those > in advance or will there be enough on arrival for everyone ? You will be able to reserve one (or more) SIM through the website after you've bought a ticket. This should allow us to pre-activate the SIMs for you, so that you can grab them the moment you arrive and they will be already working. People might want to buy more than one Italian SIM for enjoying cheap calls with their partner/family. Alternatively, you can ask for one at the registration desk; we're trying to setup things so that we can get you a SIM in half a day, but the operator might take up to 24 hours to activate it, which would obviously be a shame. > I tried finding out how to get an Italian SIM card in Germany, but > it appears to be a bit difficult from abroad due to the local > regulations in Italy. Even buying one in Italy, I would have to > get a local tax number (for whatever reason). We will take care of all the administrative details. We will need a copy of an ID (that you will be able to upload in digital form through the website). Also, we are aiming at prepaid SIMs which are "geek-friendly" (with data plans, tethering, no VOIP/Skype filters, good speed even on 2G if you go visiting the countryside and you need Google Maps, etc.). Given that we know the market, our hope is that you can simply rely on our service in bringing a good SIM to you without having to sort out the details yourself. Obviously, we will be publishing all details about traffic costs etc., in case someone wants to investigate alternatives by himself. It's just a bit too early right now, since we were going to finalize these agreements with mobile operators by the end of March. You might want to buy a ticket earlier than that, and you will obviously be able to buy SIMs later with a different transaction. -- Giovanni Bajo :: rasky at develer.com Develer S.r.l. :: http://www.develer.com My Blog: http://giovanni.bajo.it Last post: Compile-time Function Execution in D From mal at egenix.com Thu Feb 17 18:34:05 2011 From: mal at egenix.com (M.-A. If you think you have got an interesting topic to talk about, don't hesitate and send us an abstract following the Call for Paper guidelines suggested on this website. This year, we are introducing 4-hours hands-on trainings during the conference, in addition to the regular tracks. During the submission, make sure to specify whether you are willing to change the talk into a 4-hour training. To compensate for the longer preparation required, speakers that will give a training will be rewarded with a free ticket and possibly also a small fee (crossing our fingers that the budget will allow this). Speakers of regular talks will instead benefit from a reduced conference fee. Europython has been proving year after year to be a conference made by the community and for the community, and that's why this year we are happy to introduce the community-based talk voting. We will elaborate on this later on, so stay tuned! We remind everybody that you can follow the updates on the conference, in addition to this blog, both on the official Facebook page and on the Twitter profile @Europython. See you soon and...we're waiting for your abstracts! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
