Message-ID: <CAFdyfB3KaEfcg-aXB73A+RWHPunr0RyWrUpCty4vQiKOyQksAg@mail.gmail.com>

I bought an early bird student ticket, its cost was 150 euro.
I asked europython support and they told me I can still sell it, but
you'll get your badge on-desk rather than by post.

If you're a student you should send proof to the helpdesk as well,
otherwise, according to the terms and conditions "If proof is not
sufficiently provided, the substitute participant must pay the
difference between the discounted rate and the full price"

Contact me if you're interested

Thanks

Subject: [EuroPython] Travel information for EuroPython 2014
Message-ID: <53C3D26E.3010509@europython.eu>

FYI: I've merged the travel infos from the attendee wiki:

 * https://wiki.python.org/moin/EuroPython2014

into the EuroPython website page for travel infos:

 * https://ep2014.europython.eu/en/venue/public-transportation/

and added infos for the Berlin Sch?nefeld airport.

An important detail when using the EuroPython badge as public transport
ticket:

The ticket is valie for zones A and B and from Monday, July 21 -
Sunday, July 27. If you arrive early or stay longer, you will have
to get single tickets or day tickets to cover those days.

For most of the traveling, zones A and B will be all you need
(including the Berlin Texel airport). However, if you're arriving
at Berlin Sch?nefeld you have to get additional extension tickets
for the zone C.

BTW: If you're on Android, I can recommend getting the app
"?ffi - Fahrplanauskunft" as navigation app for public transport:

 * http://oeffi.schildbach.de/

For Berlin, you have to select the network "BVG" (Berlin city)
or "VBB" (Berlin + outskirts).

Hope that helps,

Please note that over EuroPython there?ll be no S-Bahn service between
Zoologischer Garten and Friedrichstr:
http://www.s-bahn-berlin.de/aktuell/2014/084_stadtbahnsperrung.htm

That means that you can?t get from Hauptbahnhof (main station) to
Alexanderplatz (which is one stop after Friedrichstr.) using the S-Bahn.
There?ll be replacements services using buses and you can use the
U-Bahn (U2) from Zoo to Alexanderplatz, it just takes a lot longer so
plan ahead.

This sucks big time, maybe it should be added to the page mentioned
above.

Does this suspension of service also have an effect for people
arriving from the airports ?

If so, I'll add a note to those sections as well.

Depends where they arrive *to*. It?s a very important leg connecting
east and west so if someone arrives for instance at SXF and has
accommodation in the western city, chances are they are affected
(although they should take a train then which are *not* affected).

In order to get from TXL or SXF to Alexanderplatz you shouldn?t need
to use that part of the network though.

Well, which airport? As written U2 or bus will work two between Zoologischer Garten
and Alexanderplatz.

Ok. I was specifically curious about TXL/SXF -> Alexanderplatz, since
there are sections on the page explaining these particular routes.

The constructions only have an impact on the S-Bahn between
Friedrichsta?e and Zoologische Garten. Short distance trains, RB and RE,
are still operating on the sidings.

That said, you can get to Alexanderplatz from Tegel Airport either via
BUS (TXL) or via Bus an RE. See
http://www.fahrinfo-berlin.de/Fahrinfo/bin/query.bin/en?ld=0.1&seqnr=2&ident=im.024961.1405349083&#focus
for an example.

For those EuroPython visitors arriving on Sunday 20th in Berlin and looking for something completely different: Which cinema in Berlin would be best suited to attend the "Monty Python Live (mostly)" show at The O2 arena, which will be broadcasted to cinemas worldwide on the 20th?

EuroPython 2014 is in less than five days and we still need more volunteers for various tasks during the conference. Please see check our former blog post [1] and see the Angels FAQ [3].

If you have not registered yet then please proceed with the registration [2] as soon as possible.

For angels registered with the volunteer management system: please add yourself to the shifts that fit your interest, please fill the remaining slots. Do not be afraid that you will miss imporant talks. There are also options to work as "video angel" where you can both listen to a talk and help the video team. You will receive an introduction to the tasks during the initial briefings - we will not leave you alone.

Your benefits as EuroPython Angel:
? Best option for getting in touch with new people
? Get an awesome lemon green EuroPython Staff TShirt
? Show everyone your support to the Python community (by wearing your special lemon green TShirt)
? With a minimum of 20 hours spent as an angel you will receive a REFUND of 50% on your ticket price

Hi folks,

I was using the Guidebook app making my own schedule for the Europython,
when suddenly the "My Schedule" option disappeared.

I thought there was a bug in the Guidebook app, but after a few mails with
the support team it seems that one of the admins (Andreas Jung ^ Markus
Holtermann) disabled this option.

It was intentionally? Can we have it back? It's a super handy feature!

Cheers,
Roberto

Hi Roberto,

Got it. I just looked at the the guide and am assuming that you were using
the My Schedule feature on the guide. It looks like one of the
administrators of that guide (Andreas Jung and Markus Holtermann) has
disabled that feature for the guide. Since it is up to them to include
features in each guide, unfortunately there is not much I can do on my end.
I'm sorry I cannot be of more help! I would suggest contacting the event
organizers and requesting that the feature be enabled again.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I'm using the Android guidebook app. The guide is for Europython 2014 at
Berlin. I am an attendee, not an guide admin.

Hi Roberto,

I'm so sorry to hear that. Are you using Gears or the Guidebook app? Also,
what guide are you working with?

We will get this figured out as soon as we can!

Will be back later?unfortunately the Guidebook import procedures are not every organizer friendly
with incremental updates or complete re-imports regarding ?My schedule?. You learn the pitfalls of tools while
you use them.

I can confirm that for iOS. Automatic updates claim to adjust "my schedule", while in fact it seems to silently disappear.
