As a result, it is necessary to ?assign? the tickets you buy to either yourself or someone else. The assignment process is explained below. Please tell us your preferences ------------------------------- The reason we?re interested in you applying this configuration as soon as possible, is that the tickets include a number of preferences which we need to know about in order to properly prepare the conference. When assigning tickets you will fill some fields, telling us your t-shirt size and cut (women or men style) and your diet preferences. If you don?t provide this information, we cannot assure we?ll have the right t-shirt available for you. Likewise, if you are vegetarian or vegan, it is important to mark this in the preferences, so that we can order enough vegetarian/vegan food. How to edit the fields of the ticket ------------------------------------ Please see the blog post for full instructions and screenshots and how the ticket assignment and preference editing works: http://blog.europython.eu/post/120850074162/europython-2015-please-configure-your-tickets Enjoy, -- EuroPython 2015 Team http://ep2015.europython.eu/ http://www.europython-society.org/ From brecht at mos6581.org Sun Jun 7 17:46:36 2015 From: brecht at mos6581.org (Brecht Machiels) Date: Sun, 7 Jun 2015 17:46:36 +0200 Subject: [EuroPython] EuroPython 2015 sprints Message-ID: Hello, Is there any information on the sprints to be held in the weekend following the conference? I'm not coming to this year's EuroPython but if they are organized in any way as previous sprints I've attended, registration is requested but not necessary (depending on if there is lunch prepared or not). You normally can propose a sprint but usually that's not strictly necessary. It might just help other people before-hand to pick a topic they want to sprint on. I remember in Florence, for instance, that there was a session-slot on the last conference they were anyone could just come up the stage and present their projects they want to sprint on. I always simply see sprints as a place where anyone can code with anyone else on anything ? If you find a project that you're interested in, just walk up to someone working with it and join ? Whether you?re totally new to programming or you already know another language, this day is to give you a crash-course in Python, and the ecosystem around it, to give you the context you need to get the most out of EuroPython. Bring your laptop, as a large part of the day will be devoted to learning Python on your own PC. This session will take place on the first day of the conference, the Monday. It will be presented in English (although a few of the coaches do speak basic Spanish, French and Italian). Sessions will include: * A high-level introduction to Python and programming in general. Where did Python come from, what is programming all about, and what do I need to know to understand all these in-jokes about cheese shops? * A self-directed learning session, with specific tutorials for total beginners and more experienced programmers, accompanied by coaches who will be there to answer your questions and help you when you get stuck. Learn at your own pace! * A session on the Python ?ecosystem? An introduction to the Python ecosystem: some topics and bits of jargon that are bound to come up this week: open source, free software, github, packages, pip, pypi, scientific computing, scipy, numpy, pandas, ipython notebook, web frameworks, django, flask, asyncio, the BDFL, the Zen of Python, etc etc. What are the tools, areas of interest, in-jokes, people of note. * ?How to get the best out of the conference? - recommended talks, what to do at lunchtimes or in the evenings, tips on when and how to ask questions (hint: as often as possible!), what an ?open space? is, and more. We really need to get an idea of numbers for this session, so if you are interested in attending, please drop a quick email to Harry Percival from the program work group. Also, be sure to get your tickets in time, since ticket sales have picked up a lot since we announced the schedule. PS: We?re also looking for volunteers to help with coaching students during this session. If you enjoy teaching Python to beginners, and you don?t mind sacrificing your EuroPython Monday to it, please do get in touch with Harry Percival ! The prices will be announced soon and be in the range of roughly half the price you have to pay for a normal ticket now. So if your friend decides soon, he can still save some money by getting a normal ticket now and then attend the whole conference for the price of two daily tickets :-) -- Marc-Andre Lemburg Director EuroPython Society http://www.europython-society.org/ From roberto.polli at par-tec.it Wed Jun 24 23:32:33 2015 From: roberto.polli at par-tec.it (Roberto Polli) Date: Wed, 24 Jun 2015 23:32:33 +0200 Subject: [EuroPython] How to buy daily tickets for EP?
