  Are you able to try this with the CVS version?  I can send a
release-style package if that makes it easier.  I'd like to get a
release out soon.
  The build control has changed a fair bit, so it's hard for me to
predict whether this has changed.  Are you using GNU make or the
IBM-supplied make?  I did notice that Sun's make had problems on
Solaris, but I that was a very different problem.
