Summary: libexpat crashed

Initial Comment:
An exception is caused when the message to be parsed 
is not wellformed in such a specific way:
the "<" for the root element is missing.

What do you mean?
Expat is supposed to return an error in such a case.
Or do you mean a memory access violation?

Btw, Expat itself is written in C and therefore
does not throw exceptions.
