Works for me.

How difficult would it be to have configure change what happens in
some other way when the library isn't found?  I could certainly see
doing a thin, just-enough version of the library's API so we can build
& run the tests without check being available.  (It's still good to
support the real check library since it provides a lot of support for
running unit tests even in the presence of nastiness like core dumps.)

But just looking through the docs for Subversion is really making me
look forward to it.  I'm using some of the ideas for the filesystem
synchronization support in Zope 3!  And we're considering migrating
the Zope 3 repository to Subversion as well.
