Nelson Beebe reported a few issues while building
Expat 1.95.6 on various Unix platforms.

The availability of check.h is now checked by the configure
script.
Given the general problem that most of these aspects are
controlled by libtool rather than the Expat build process
itself, I don't think we can do any more about this without
completely replacing the build system.

Closing this as 3rd party bug / won't fix.

I looked over Nelson's comments, and it looks like most of
these issues are related to the way libtool puts command
lines together, not things that are directly in the
Makefile; Makefile.pre.in looks like it gets these issues right.

Greg, can you take a look at this as well?
