[Python Glasgow] Glasgow python events and learning Python

Hi Marisa,

I can't speak for attending the meetings since my own attendance has been
somewhat minimal (judge me, not the meetings ;-) ).
However, I started learning Python myself a couple of years ago and thought
it might be useful to share the resources that I used most when getting
started.

Codecademy is good for getting a feel for the basics of the language,
although be aware that it uses Python 2.7, whereas your company might be
using Python 3.x.

I used this to get started, and once I felt it was getting a bit tedious
(perhaps because I have other programming experience) I started doing some
exercises from the daily programming subreddit, since I like to have clear
programming goals:

For solving issues that you encounter, the official Python documentation
and Stack Overflow are a great starting point:

And you might like to have a look at other Python-specific subreddits, e.g.:

I've also heard great things about this:

Personally it wasn't to my tastes but you might like it more.
