[group-organizers] Watch PyCon videos?

David Gouldin and I ran an event like this in Dallas some years ago.
We bought a keg of beer and some pizza, publicized the event, and had
only 5-ish people show up. On the other hand, 5 people in Dallas was
about normal for a community event, and the people that came seemed to
enjoy it. We watched, I think, 5 talks and took short breaks between
them.
I don't think it's weird to watch a talk video in person, or indeed to
time-shift as a group in general, or to watch a live thing as a group
though not together in person, etc, etc. Our existing media
consumption patterns are mostly accidents of history, I think.
rifftrax.com does augmented audio tracks to sync with existing media.
HotPotato did internet-based group forming around live events, totally
a startup idea I hoped to do some day. Acquired by Facebook long
before we could see if it worked or mattered - a great loss.
There is fertile ground here, as any MOOC'er likely knows. ;-)
