Subject: [group-organizers] Folding Python UGs into the PSF
Message-ID: <CACYuLNsBTh=Fqy8qsuOC77HcWf9BmchZo5z9CEXUFnNOqBo=gA@mail.gmail.com>

Hi all,

I am a co-organizer of PyNash (UG in Nashville). During this year's PyCon I
talked to some other organizers about folding operations under the PSF.
IndyPy is an example.

We are interested in doing the same thing but couldn't find any resources
or information about doing so online. Can someone point us in the right
direction to make that happen?

Thanks,
- Brian

I've seen something on the wiki. I can't find it now.

Probably the best first contact is Kurt Kaiser the treasurer of the PSF.
What I remember reading is submitting to the PSF to become an official
project of the PSF. Then they handle all the receipts of monies. The donors
receive tax benefits of making a charitable contribution to a recognized
501(c)3.

After considering setting up PuPPy with its own 501(c)3, I'm planning on
submitting to the PSF as a project. More than the administrative overhead,
we don't have a sufficient number of people to constitute a board for
PuPPy.
?

Thanks, Don, for that pointer.

I found this:

https://wiki.python.org/moin/FiscalSponsorship

It does provide some helpful information, but no contact info.
