[group-organizers] Boulder Python Hosts Panel on Diversity in OSS
Boulder Python Organizers
hi at boulderpython.org
Fri Jul 6 12:06:13 EDT 2018
Next Tuesday (7/10) Boulder Python will be hosting a special meetup.
Instead of our regular format of talks, we will be viewing Mariatta
Wijaya’s PyCon 2018 talk: “What is a Python Core Developer?”. Afterwards,
we will springboard from the topics discussed in her thought provoking talk
to a panel discussion featuring distinguished members of the Boulder/Denver
tech community. (visit our Meetup page for more details)
Our hope for this evening is to provide our community with a new
perspective of the systemic barriers that exist in engaging
underrepresented groups in open-source development, not just Python. We
feel that this is larger than just open source and is an important
conversation that can help everyone who's ever experienced these barriers.
Our goal is that this discussion becomes an incubator for ideas to
encourage and support members of all groups as they become interested in
OSS development.
We hope that this encourages some of you to host a similar event and take
on what we feel is such an important responsibility. Our global Python
community seems incredibly well equipped for this effort
Sincerely,
Zoë, Scott, and Frank
